The House Agriculture Committee on Wednesday passed a bill that aims to address the shortage of veterinarians in rural areas across the country through the authorization of competitive grants to maintain veterinary services. The measure will next go to the full House for consideration. "Large animal vets, in particular, are integral to small, rural communities but are often scarce. The Veterinary Services Investment Act seeks to stem this tide," said Rep. Adrian Smith, who introduced the measure.
