Many Missouri school districts have been using videoconferencing to enhance classroom learning since 1998, when a grant allowed them to purchase and install the equipment. Some educators were wary at first, but many now easily use the technology to allow students -- especially those from rural areas -- to engage in educational programs through cultural organizations, take virtual field trips and communicate with students in locations such as Darfur, Rwanda and Israel.
