Abengoa Bioenergy has secured supplier commitments for 60% of biomass for its proposed hybrid ethanol refinery in Hugoton, Kan. Abengoa is also nearing completion of the facility's design, which combines elements from the company's pilot plant in York, Neb., and demonstration site in Salamanca, Spain. The refinery, which would feature grain-based and cellulosic-ethanol components, is expected to be the first of its kind when it begins production in 2013.
