Among the algae-fuel companies who are exploring other revenue streams are Aurora Algae, which is marketing its patented algae strain for pharmaceuticals and nutritional supplements; Solazyme, which is seeking to replace palm oil with algal oil in food and skin-care products; and Blue Marble Energy, which aims to branch out to biochemicals, Korosec writes.
