Korean electronics giant Samsung is working to transform itself from a copycat appliance manufacturer into a radical innovator capable of reshaping the global electronics market. Not everyone's convinced the company has what it takes to reinvent itself, but analysts say that Samsung's Korean base is the perfect springboard for a run at the global marketplace. "Korea's sandwich position between advanced Japan and rising China turned out to be a good thing because it allowed Korean companies to offer products that optimize quality and price," says one analyst.
