The U.S. economy has been recovering slowly, and four unlikely sectors are helping lead the way. Agriculture has remained strong, boosted by overseas markets, and August was a record-breaking month for mergers and acquisitions by worldwide volume with $286 billion in deals. Detroit is also doing better as the outlook for U.S. automakers has improved, and manufacturing has expanded faster than predicted.
