German chemical producer BASF announced that it will beat analyst expectations for its third-quarter performance and has increased its outlook for 2010 sales. Fueled by Chinese consumption, demand was unusually strong over the summer -- the period when the chemical sector experiences a lull. "Chemicals, plastics, performance products and functional solutions have seen very good capacity-utilization rates. We continue to get a strong impetus from Asia, with China as the driving force," said BASF CEO Juergen Hambrecht.
