A study of patients with end-stage kidney disease found that those who received peritoneal dialysis had about the same survival rate as those who underwent hemodialysis at hospitals or other health facilities. However, a separate study found that only 11% of patients opted to have their dialysis at home despite its benefits. "We need to do a better job of educating people of the advantages of peritoneal," a kidney expert said.
