A diet called DASH, or Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension, developed to lower blood pressure and cholesterol, also cuts heart attack risk by nearly 20%, researchers say. The diet is rich in whole grains, low-fat dairy products, fish, poultry and nuts; and calls for trimming fats, red meats and sweets.
