The TSA is asking travelers to pick between two unappealing options: the full-body scanner or an invasive pat-down, writes ACLU of Massachusetts researcher Kade Crockford in the Boston Globe. Crockford also notes that scanners used by the TSA cannot detect explosives concealed internally. Some critics view the pat-downs as a punishment for travelers who refuse to go through the scanners, which is the TSA's preferred screening method, Crockford writes.
