Kraft Foods says its acquisition of Cadbury will help generate $1 billion in revenue from its international business -- with much of the revenue coming from the chocolate business -- over the next three years. "The combination of Kraft Foods and Cadbury provides the scale necessary to grow sales and distribution in new and existing markets, delivering $1 billion in incremental revenue synergies ... to 2013," the company said.
Scientists are seeing the potential role of nanotechnology in producing low-fat foods that could help fight conditions, such as obesity and diabetes, or encapsulated nutrients that could affect digestion. However, some experts are concerned that nonbiodegradable or "persistent" nanoparticles might cause harm by making their way through certain barriers within the human body.
Coca-Cola's largest bottling plant in China is set to open in October in Luohe City. The company opened three facilities last year and two are under construction, as the company moves forward with plans to invest $2 billion over three years.
