The Obama administration's tougher stance on immigration-law enforcement is hitting the restaurant industry, The New York Times reports. Restaurants traditionally hire a large number of immigrants to staff their kitchens, a practice that until recently went largely unscrutinized by law enforcement. Now, eatery owners such as Michel Malecot, the owner of San Diego's 45-seat French Gourmet, may face hefty fines, property forfeiture and even jail time.
