The hot, dry summer has taken a toll on many lawns, but steps can be taken this fall to help keep grass looking healthy next year, writes Bob Karlovits. Aeration is one of the most important strategies for healthy lawns, and should be done every two years. While at least one lawn expert says gardeners should take steps to get rid of pesky weeds with herbicides after overseeding, another argues herbicides should be used before planting seeds to avoid harm.
