It's too soon to tell whether 3G Capital's acquisition of Burger King will prove a boon to the quickservice chain's U.S. operations. The chain has fallen behind McDonald's, whose core customer base of moms and children hasn't been hit as hard by the economic downturn as Burger King's base of teen and 20-something males. Longer-term, the deal may help Burger King overcome issues including fractured franchisee relationships and menus and store designs that have come to be seen as stale.
