About 40% of children's daily calorie intake comes from solid fat and added sugar, according to U.S. government researchers. The report in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association said the top energy sources for children ages 2 to 18 were grain desserts, pizza and soda, while sugar-sweetened drinks made up about 10% of total caloric intake.
