Tom Horton, the new president of American Airlines, joined the carrier 25 years ago, rising to the post of chief financial officer in 2000, just when American was capping its most profitable era in history. After a stint as CFO at AT&T, Horton returned to American in 2006, finding a very different situation than the one he had left. But Horton says he's ready for what lies ahead. "[T]here's madness all over this business," Horton notes. "Of course, we have challenges, but I like challenges. Without the challenges, it's not interesting."
