After two and half years of short-term extensions, ATA President and CEO James May says it's time for Congress to make a "fresh start" on reauthorizing the FAA. In a Monday speech before the annual meeting of the Air Traffic Control Association, May called for a bill that imposes no new taxes on the airline industry while protecting carriers' ability to form international alliances. On NextGen, May urged accelerated implementation and called for "real, measurable benefits such as reduced separation standards" that would justify the industry's investment in new technology.
