U.S.-based Lubrizol and BASF's U.S. arm are pushing developments in their thermoplastic polyurethane offerings. Lubrizol has come up with a highly elastic variant of its Estane TPU line, as the "soft, elastic TPU is a growing portfolio" for the industry, and "it gives designers an unexpected combination of softness and durability," an industry researcher said. BASF, meanwhile, has improved the fuel resistance of its Elastollan TPU line, which enables the product to ward off shrinking while retaining its key properties, a quality-assurance manager said.
