Briggs & Stratton posted a loss of $8.11 million for the first fiscal quarter, compared with a loss of $8.69 million for the same period last year. Sales increased from $324.61 million from a year ago to $334.12 million driven by international engine shipments and greater sales volumes of lawn and garden products. Briggs & Stratton maintained its earnings outlook of $60 million to $70 million, or $1.20 to $1.40 per share, for 2011.
