Delta Air Lines and US Airways are continuing talks with the Transportation Department over plans to swap slots at Washington Reagan National and New York LaGuardia. Regulators had earlier ordered both airlines to divest slots as a prerequisite for approval, but a spate of consolidation within the industry could undermine the logic for such a requirement. US Airways CEO Doug Parker said during an earnings call that the recent shuffle "acknowledges what many of us have been saying all along, which is, if indeed you want access to slot-controlled airports you should go acquire it."
