U.S. physician shortages in 2015 will be 50% worse than predicted because health reform will provide insurance coverage to millions more Americans, according to a report by the Association of American Medical Colleges. The group forecast a shortage of 33,100 physicians in areas such as cardiology, oncology and emergency medicine, with a total of nearly 63,000 doctors fewer than needed in all areas, and said Congress should increase funding for training new doctors.
