There are no firm plans to bring high-speed rail to Jacksonville, Fla., but state transportation officials are telling the city to prepare. The state has $1.25 billion in pocket to build a bullet-train line between Orlando and Tampa; there is no money yet for a Jacksonville segment. However, "the future of high-speed rail in Florida is Jacksonville and southeast Florida," said Kevin Thibault, executive director of Florida Rail Enterprise.
