Airlines are boosting ticket prices by as much as 18% this holiday season as the economy continues to recover and travelers are ready to go. "I expect prices to be quite high compared to the last couple years, as demand is strong and supply is weak," said Rick Seaney, CEO of FareCompare. Passengers are being packed into planes as airlines remain reluctant to add capacity. The Thanksgiving through Christmas holiday season is one of the busiest of the year, with roughly 41 million Americans expected to take a flight this year.
