Jerusalem is filled with iconic images, including the Western Wall, the narrow Via Dolorosa and the Temple Mount, and those sites are iconic for a reason. Almost any visit to Israel begins in Jerusalem. Some of Israel's less-traveled areas are also important, but largely as a complement to the main city. Although Israel is filled with religious and cultural sights, visitors also will encounter modern gems and natural wonders.
