A Cambridge, Mass., woman has filed lawsuits against the maker and distributor of the HomeAgain tracking identification chip that she alleges caused cancer in her cat. Andrea Rutherford's lawsuit states that her veterinarian found her cat's chip embedded in a tumor removed from the animal. One consumer advocate says the case is one of many similar reports, while others including World Small Animal Veterinary Association say such cases are rare. Some say any risks outweigh the benefits, with many families recovering lost pets because of the chips.
