Regular follow-up of SPECT myocardial perfusion imaging is being conducted more among those with a history of coronary artery disease than in those without prior CAD, according to a study. The median period for follow-up was considered longer than the allotted warranty period for patients without CAD, the study also showed. These results point to the need to educate cardiologists and non-cardiologists more on the appropriateness criteria covering SPECT MPI and the warranty period after a normal test, the researchers said.
