The use of student-tracking technology is increasing in some Houston-area school districts amid concerns about students' privacy and safety. The technology is contained in badges worn by students and allows administrators to track students' whereabouts during the school day. Administrators tout the benefits of the badges, including better attendance and the ability to locate students during an emergency. But some parents and groups such as the American Civil Liberties Union are concerned the badges leave students vulnerable to identity theft and possible health risks.
