More retailers are setting deadlines to phase out bisphenol A from their products, according to a report from investment firm Green Century Capital Management and environmental group As You Sow. Of retailers surveyed, 32% have timelines to eliminate BPA, up from 7% last year, the report said. Of 26 companies that participated in the study, H.J. Heinz, ConAgra and Hain Celestial have garnered an A for their efforts, the report said, while Coca-Cola, Del Monte, Safeway and Wal-Mart flunked for refusing to get rid of the chemical.
