A recent study showed that an inactivated vaccine called Vira Shield 6 produced strong immunity response against bovine viral diarrhea virus, dispelling a long-standing belief that inactivated vaccines were not as effective as modified-live vaccines. Similarly, a diagnostician said in a letter to the editor published in the JAVMA that inactivated vaccines can protect pregnant cattle against bacterial and viral reproductive diseases.
