A huge portion of the Earth will encounter intense dry conditions in the next three decades if greenhouse gases continue to be released in the atmosphere, according to a study by Aiguo Dai, a scientist from the National Center for Atmospheric Research. Certain regions in Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, southern Europe and the U.S. will experience extreme drought, while other regions will face a wetter climate. Dai conducted the research using 22 computer models from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
