Vermont Railways, Shelburne Limestone and the state of Vermont are working together to reduce truck traffic. The three entities have opened a $250,000 truck-to-train "transload" facility at the Burlington rail yard; the first shipment took place Thursday. "We have our own trucks ... but in order to be feasible and financial, we have to rely on the rail and this is a vital part of our industry," said Jim Cousino of Shelburne Limestone.
