The city of Destin, Fla., has commenced on a project that would eliminate invasive species of plants in the area, including the Chinese tallow tree. The tallow tree needs to be removed because its decaying leaves and sap are harmful to other plants. The city teamed up with the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance to devise measures that would kill the tallow tree, including a plan that would apply a herbicide to stop the invasive plant from growing once it is cut down.
