Researchers found that about two-thirds of 427 low-income women ages 14 to 25 gained more than the recommended weight during pregnancy, and about 50% of them failed to lose at least 10 of their pregnancy pounds one year after giving birth. Researchers said that the trends in weight gain might recur in future pregnancies, putting the women at a long-term increased risk for obesity and other health complications.
