A new five-story building at a senior living community in Tennessee is topped with a modular green roof planted with low-growing vegetation that is resistant to drought, disease and pests. A project manager with the company that built the building and installed the roof has now joined the building's staff as its director of plant operations. Green roofs extend the life of the roof membrane, absorb excess stormwater, reduce indoor temperatures and sound levels and provide additional outdoor space for residents.
