Some are criticizing educators at a New York elementary school for not requiring students to recite the full Pledge of Allegiance. Instead, students recite a full character pledge in unison as a school and the first line of the Pledge of Allegiance. The intercom is then turned off, and students and teachers can continue saying the pledge in individual classrooms. One school board member resigned after other board members did not support her call for a full pledge recitation.
