The Treasury reported that almost 520,000 struggling homeowners have been helped by the Home Affordable Modification Program through October, an increase of 23,750 borrowers from the previous month. However, about 36,300 homeowners dropped out of the program because they did not make their modified payments. Lawmakers said at a congressional hearing that HAMP isn't doing enough to help borrowers.
