Canadian entrepreneur Rebecca McCormack says that after six years of running her women's clothing boutique, the business had become boring and predictable -- even though she had extended her brand by designing some of her own pieces and wholesaling them through other boutiques across the country. The flagship store in Winnipeg had recently moved to a larger location, but McCormack says she still felt tied down by the demands of a retail operation. Rather than giving in to inertia, McCormack found a buyer willing to take over the store while she focused more time on designing, the part of the business that still excited her.
