Newly installed lawmakers should not disregard the science behind global warming, but several alternatives to cap-and-trade legislation are welcome, said President Barack Obama during a speech after Republicans made huge gains in the House of Representatives. Obama also acknowledged that cap-and-trade will not move in the next few years, so Democrats and Republicans should work together in formulating climate legislation. "One of the things that is very important for me is not to have us ignore the science, but rather to find ways that we can solve these problems that don't hurt the economy," he said.
