CDC researchers found that the average life expectancy of Americans has decreased from 77.9 in 2007 to 77.8 years in 2008, with women still having longer life expectancy than men. Heart disease and cancer remained the top two causes of death in the U.S., while respiratory illnesses and stroke took third and fourth place respectively, researchers reported.
