Businesses with fewer than 50 employees accounted for the majority of private-sector hiring last month, indicating that the small-business economy may be heating up. Payroll processor ADP found that small companies added 54,000 jobs in November, enough to qualify as a "surge," according to Joel Prakken of Macroeconomic Advisers.
