Playa Guiones, a remote hamlet on Costa Rica's Pacific side, used to welcome guests from the fringes of society: trust-fund children, fugitives and eccentrics. It also has long been a mecca for surfers. Playa Guiones is all about the beach and waves, although exotic birds and butterflies, sunsets and constellations also keep visitors entranced.
