A diet rich in carotenoids appears to impart a golden color to the skin that research participants deemed healthy and attractive. Carotenoids are found in leafy greens, root vegetables and certain fruits, and the lead researcher said, "If you want a healthier and more attractive skin color, you are better off eating a healthy diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables than lying in the sun."
