Some hotels and resorts use deceptive photos, fake customer reviews and misleading promotions to attract travelers, according to a report by TODAY. TripAdvisor, the Federal Trade Commission, Sofitel Los Angeles, Hyatt Regency Washington and AH&LA all offered responses to the report. "Misleading potential guests is not only ethically objectionable, it also minimizes the chance for repeat business, word-of-mouth referrals, and positive online reviews," according to AH&LA, which noted it does not condone such activity.
