A Fannie Mae internal report from 2006 warned that some lenders and law firms were not properly handling foreclosures. The report said Florida attorneys "routinely made" inaccurate statements during foreclosure court proceedings to try to speed up the process. "Fannie Mae took the necessary steps to address the specific issues identified by the 2006 report and regularly evaluates and enhances oversight of its retained attorney network," according to a Fannie Mae spokeswoman.
