HealthGrades' annual list of the 50 top-performing U.S. hospitals found they had a 28.59% lower mortality rate and a 3.45% lower risk of complications than those that didn't make the cut. Researchers said if all hospitals had achieved the quality of care seen in hospitals on the list, more than 500,000 Medicare deaths could have been prevented over the past decade.
