Networking events can be awkward, but they're an essential part of developing a law practice, Kimberly Alford Rice writes. When attending a networking event, try offering help before seeking it, being a good listener and preparing questions ahead of time, Rice writes. "Before you arrive to an event, make it a goal to meet and talk with a certain number of people (say three to five for your first event). Don't leave the event until you have reached your goal," she writes.
