A Mayo Clinic survey of 61 patients with advanced cancer found that most are willing to undergo additional tests, including ultrasound, tumor biopsies and PET scans, in order for them to participate in Phase I trials of cancer drug candidates. The finding holds promise for personalized medicine, which calls for patients to go through biopsies and medical imaging tests to enable doctors to better look at the molecular profile of an individual patient's tumor, according to the study published in the online version of the journal Cancer.
