Joseph A. Aguerrebere, president of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, says cuts to the organization's federal funds will not stop its operations. A temporary spending bill cut $10.7 million in federal funds for NBPTS, which had gone to help teachers pay for certification and to improve the National Board Certified Teacher program. However, other education programs, such as the National Writing Project, may be eliminated as a result of the fiscal year 2011 cuts.
