Negative affects, negative life events, poor control of glycated hemoglobin levels, high body mass index and prior major depressive disorder predicted subsequent MDD in primary care patients with type 2 diabetes, according to a study in the Annals of Family Medicine. The researchers said providers should be aware of other life stressors for patients to identify those who need referrals to services to improve their emotional status and disease management.
