Japan's damaged transportation network and infrastructure in the worst-hit Miyagi prefecture is being restored bit by bit, including the flooded Sendai airport, which has been opened to emergency aircraft and helicopters. Damaged ports have reopened, as well as many major roads, including the Tohoku Expressway. Miyagi Gov. Yoshihiro Murai said
the resettlement of some evacuees outside the area is needed because of a lack of temporary housing.
